SMC CXS Sizing

When specifying an SMC CXS dual Piston actuator, what bore size is required to generate the same thrust as a single piston actuator with 40 mm bore?

A single piston 40mm bore actuator has 1256 mm2 of piston area.

To generate "at least as much" thrust, select the CXS (dual piston) actuator with 32mm bore - which has 1608 mm2 total piston area..

By contrast, the CXS (dual piston) 25 mm bore would have 982 mm2 piston area.
