Can I attach elements of the old AF and AFM products to the new products?

Filter elements of AF, AFM, AFD and AW products with 4 digit codes are compatible with new products with 2 digit codes (e.g. AF40). 
Also, the part number of filter elements for each product with 2 digit codes are same as ones for the refreshed products (e.g. AF40-∗-A). 
However, the filter elements of products with 3 digit codes (e.g. AF400) cannot be used with the products of 4 digit codes.
